Jajarkot, Sept. 30: Schools in Dolpa, which were closed due to lockdown immediately after the start of the academic year, will now be closed due to snowfall.
They are closed from September to February due to extreme cold. Due to the lack of support from nature, the schools in the lower Dolpa are closed at different times. There are eight schools in Charkatang Song village municipality of Upper Dolpa, 13 in She Foksundo, three in Dolpobuddha and 14 in Kaike. Dal Bahadur Basnet, head of the Education Coordination Unit, said that no new data has been received on the number of students in Upper Dolpa.
There are 114 community schools in the district. Since it is not possible to move from one village to another due to snowfall, most of the common people of Upper Dolpa come to the lower part to avoid the cold. Some of the economically disadvantaged people live in the upper Dolpa. Chairman of the village municipality Senang Gurung informed that the municipality has started classes in three schools with the help of various associations and organizations. The upper Dolpa, which is geographically difficult, can only be inhabited in hot weather.
This is the problem in the Himalayan district of Karnali. In cold weather, not only schools but also police stations are shifted to the district headquarters. Although the teacher from Upper Dolpa has given some students normal educational activities, the teachers from other parts of the house have not been allowed to go due to the terror of Corona. It is very cold in the settlements from Dho to Chhaka with high human consumption. Kaike, an endangered language in the world, is also in the upper dolpa. Upper Dolpa, which borders China, is geographically the largest of all the districts. It is difficult to get daily necessities in Upper Dolpa. The common people have been affected due to lack of rice husk in the sales center of Food Management and Trade Company Limited. Residential schools have also been affected due to non-supply of food due to lockdown.
What is the condition of the model school in the district?
Satyanarayana Singh, Principal of Saraswati Higher Secondary School, Dolpa Dunai, has been conferred the title of Praval Janasewa Shri (IV). He has made the school in the heart of the district a school that attracts the attention of students from different streams as well as neighboring districts. Singh has raised the head of the school in the midst of limited manpower due to lack of funds as well as heavy students in the world. The school, which was in trouble five years ago, is now considered as a model of the district. Singh informed that some of the courses are conducted online. Conducting technical education in Dolpa is a challenging task in itself.
